This significant development provides warm, dry, and energy-efficient homes for Auckland families, supported by resilient infrastructure that prioritizes community well-being and long-term durability.

Description

The St George Apartments project is a key residential development for Kāinga Ora, providing 28 new homes composed of 12 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom apartments. As the building services engineers, our mission was to translate the vision of affordable, inclusive living into a high-performance reality through robust mechanical, hydraulic, and fire protection design. These residences offer more than just a place to live; they are engineered as safe, warm, and dry havens that prioritize the long-term well-being of individuals and families. Our mechanical team focused on energy-efficient ventilation systems that ensure optimal indoor air quality and thermal comfort year-round, meeting stringent Homestar sustainability standards. The hydraulic design was optimized for durability and low maintenance, featuring high-efficiency water systems tailored for high-density living. Fire safety was a paramount concern, with state-of-the-art protection systems integrated seamlessly into the architectural fabric to ensure resident security. By utilizing a "safety by design" approach, we ensured that all building services support a secure and welcoming environment for a diverse community.

The project’s infrastructure was carefully planned to maximize the utility of the site while maintaining a low environmental footprint. Our engineers worked closely with the wider project team to ensure that the complex technical requirements of the build were met within a framework of cost-effectiveness and quality.
