Ensuring engineering excellence and operational resilience through rigorous peer reviews of the building services for Rotorua’s premier five-star hotel.

Description

We were engaged to provide critical peer review services for the building services design of the Pullman Hotel Rotorua, a flagship luxury development delivered by the Stonewood Group. Our role involved a comprehensive technical audit of the mechanical HVAC, electrical, and communications and security designs to ensure they met the high-performance standards required for an international five-star brand. We performed a detailed analysis of the mechanical HVAC strategy, focusing on thermal comfort, acoustic performance, and energy efficiency across the hotel's 130 rooms and public spaces. Our electrical peer review ensured the power distribution and lighting control systems were robust, scalable, and compliant with modern hospitality requirements. We also scrutinised the communications and security designs, verifying that the digital infrastructure and safety protocols provided a seamless and secure experience for guests and staff. By providing an independent technical perspective, we identified opportunities to optimise system performance and mitigate potential operational risks before construction. Our team worked to ensure that the proposed engineering solutions were fully aligned with the unique environmental and geothermal conditions of the Rotorua region.

We focused on validating that the building services were designed for long-term durability and ease of maintenance for the hotel's facilities management team. This process required a thorough understanding of the specific brand standards mandated by Accor for the Pullman brand. Our review helped ensure that the final installation would deliver the high-quality indoor environment and technological reliability expected by luxury travellers. This project demonstrates our expertise in providing high-level technical oversight for complex, large-scale commercial developments.
