Description
The Building Services Engineering design for the redevelopment of Mount Maunganui College reflects our commitment to delivering high-performing, future-ready learning environments. The project centred on the delivery of 32 specialised teaching spaces, carefully designed to support diverse learning modes while aligning with the school’s vision and the vibrant Mount Maunganui community. Located in the Bay of Plenty, the College’s coastal setting and connection to Mauao (Mount Maunganui) informed an approach that balances educational functionality with environmental responsiveness.
As building services engineers on this staged redevelopment, we played a key role in integrating building systems seamlessly across all 32 teaching spaces - HVAC, lighting, electrical, ICT, and hydraulic systems were designed to enhance comfort, acoustic performance, and usability, while prioritising energy efficiency and resilience in a coastal environment. Particular emphasis was placed on system coordination, constructability, and minimising disruption to school operations during staged construction.
Through close collaboration with the school and project stakeholders, we delivered integrated engineering solutions that support contemporary teaching practices, allow for future adaptability, and reinforce the College’s strong connection to its community and natural surroundings.
