The transformation of 92 Albert Street into DoubleTree by Hilton Auckland delivers a sophisticated, high-rise hotel experience in the heart of the city. Our engineering design supported a complex conversion and expansion, incorporating advanced building services solutions—including the tallest hybrid VRF application in New Zealand at the time.

Description

This project involved the complex conversion and expansion of an existing structure at 92 Albert Street into a high-specification, 231-room international hotel. Rising 20 storeys, DoubleTree by Hilton Auckland Albert Street offers premium guest accommodation, suites, conference and event facilities, a fitness centre, and vibrant dining and bar spaces. Our building services engineering design was central to delivering a high-performance hotel within the constraints of an existing building and a dense urban site.

The mechanical design incorporated the tallest hybrid VRF system deployed in the country at the time, setting a new benchmark for vertical hospitality applications. This solution provided flexibility, efficiency, and precise comfort control across diverse hotel spaces while minimising plant footprint and energy use. Electrical, lighting, and services coordination were carefully integrated to support the operational demands of an international hotel brand. Located in Auckland’s CBD, near Aotea Station, the Sky Tower, and the future New Zealand International Convention Centre, the project required robust, future-ready systems.

The outcome is a refined hospitality environment that balances technical innovation, operational efficiency, and guest comfort within a landmark urban setting.
