The Counties Energy Head Office redevelopment in Pukekohe stands as a flagship facility designed to harmonize corporate operations with mission-critical utility management. As building services engineers, our role was to deliver a high-resiliency environment that reflects the client's status as a leader in New Zealand’s energy transition. The project involved the design and integration of sophisticated electrical systems, featuring multi-layered redundancy to ensure the facility remains fully operational during regional power events or civil emergencies. Our mechanical team implemented high-efficiency HVAC solutions tailored to a mixed-use layout, providing optimal climate control for both the high-tech control room and modern open-plan office spaces. Sustainability was a core driver, with the building services designed to support Counties Energy's commitment to a net-zero future, including EV charging infrastructure and smart energy monitoring. The hydraulic design prioritized water efficiency and robust fire suppression systems, ensuring the long-term protection of this vital community asset.

We collaborated closely with the architectural team to ensure that exposed services within the industrial-chic design met both aesthetic and performance standards. The facility’s infrastructure was future-proofed to accommodate rapid technological shifts in the energy sector, from advanced grid management tools to increased data processing requirements. Throughout the construction phase, we navigated the complexities of maintaining site security and operational continuity for the existing crew. Completed in late 2025, the new headquarters provides a world-class workspace that fosters innovation and collaboration among the 250+ staff members. By delivering precision-engineered building services, we have helped Counties Energy establish a resilient, sustainable, and technologically advanced home for the next generation of energy services.
