Advanced HVAC and Electrical System Optimisation for Monash University’s Critical Animal Research Facilities.

Description

Maintaining stable environmental conditions is paramount for the high-impact research conducted at Monash University. We provided expert Mechanical and Electrical Engineering design services to assess the HVAC infrastructure within the University’s sensitive animal holding rooms. Our primary focus was to ensure every system met the Monash Design and Construction Standards (MDCS), which demand performance levels above standard industry codes. We evaluated critical factors such as air change rates, pressure differentials, and thermal stability to safeguard the wellbeing of the animals and the accuracy of scientific data.

Our engineering team conducted a thorough gap analysis to identify opportunities for system redundancy and energy efficiency. The electrical scope included reviewing power distribution and integrated control systems to maintain 24/7 reliability in these mission-critical environments. By prioritising sustainable design outcomes, we helped the university move toward a more resilient and cost-effective infrastructure model. Our designs were tailored to support the diverse needs of the Monash Animal Research Platform, which spans multiple campuses and species. This project underscores our capability in delivering technical solutions for complex laboratory and research environments. We are proud to contribute to the university's mission of innovative teaching and world-class research.
