The Building Services Engineering design for the redevelopment of Mount Maunganui College reflects our commitment to creating sustainable and functional learning environments that align with the school’s vision and the vibrant community of Mount Maunganui. Situated in the Bay of Plenty, the College’s unique coastal location and connection to the iconic Mauao (Mount Maunganui) inspired a design that supports both the students’ educational experience and their connection to the natural environment.
As building services engineers on this staged project, we played a pivotal role in ensuring that all systems were seamlessly integrated across multiple phases. In Stage 1, we managed the classroom relocation and the construction of a new classroom block, carefully designing and implementing services to meet the demands of modern teaching and learning spaces. For Stages 2 and 3, we focused on the extension and refurbishment of the music and arts block, including specialized systems for a state-of-the-art recording studio.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with the school and stakeholders to ensure that HVAC, lighting, electrical, and plumbing systems were designed for energy efficiency and optimized for the coastal environment. Our solutions prioritized resilience, minimal disruption during construction, and adaptability for future growth.
By harmonizing engineering solutions with the school’s values and aspirations, we delivered a project that not only enhances the learning experience but also celebrates Mount Maunganui College’s connection to its community and environment.
